School Distribution Success
Skills Generation just completed a CIDA sponsored project to distribute school materials to 16 schools in Kandahar City and the countryside. “We were able to get school materials to many more girls than we had hoped. It is a great,” said Abdul Mohammad in Kandahar. More information to follow.
Lots To Do

1,001 things
The charity started working a few months ago, and has devoted its attention to distributing materials to schools. We recently won a small grant from the Canadian International Development Agency to distribute learning materials to 15 schools. To date, we’re completed seven schools, with the rest to follow soon.
So while busy in the field, we must now pick up the pace in organizing other parts of the agency. Within the next couple of months we will:
– expand more upon our work in this blog - include photos of school distribution – launch an expanded, professional, website – make it easier for people to support our work – develop school partnerships - explore new projects.
Phew ! Lots to do, better get busy

The Challenge & Potential.

We believe that education is the best way for a country to escape poverty. First in Afghanistan, now in Haiti, and soon in Pakistan, we work with teachers, students, families and community leaders to improve schools and improve vocational training.
While seemingly vastly different, the people of Haiti and Afghanistan share a grinding poverty that is matched only by their goal to better the lives of their children. We do what we can, in our way, to help.
Getting Busy
October 4, 2008
Skills Generation is a Canadian charity dedicated to improving education in Afghanistan.
In Kandahar, we are distributing pencils, school books, desks, sports equipment and other materials to improve the learning experience. In Haiti, we are building ‘Tent Schools’ to get children back into a learning environment.
Soon we will focus on teacher education, vocational training, girls’ schools and textbook printing.
We get the job done as cheaply as possible, squeezing every dollar to get the most for children.
This blog is a starting point – follow it to learn much more about our work, challenges and progress.
